I met Neil Gaiman!
When I heard that Neil Gaiman was going to be in London for an interview on the 26 of October I freaked out! He was meeting at the Jewish center and tickets were only £8.00. I have been a fan for a few years now. I read Neverwhere, Coraline, Stardust, Fragile Things, and started reading American Gods, which I never got around to finishing yet. I fell in love with his style and humour. he is an amazing writer and very inspiring to me as a designer.
I went and I was able to buy his new book, The Graveyard Book, which he signed after his interview.

It was a great experience!
On the way to see Neil Gaiman....I am so excited I can't think!!!

I agreed to help a few friends in the journalism course, Andrew and Emmy, with a project they were working on over the weekend. They were interested in filming and interviewing students that were in fashion design, etcetera. They were really interested in my messenger bag designs and that I reused many materials to create my bags.
We met up on Saturday and the crew filmed me shopping for material and supplies for my bags as well as interviewing me about my craft.
We ended up doing two shoots, Our first shoot was at a second-hand shop to look for material. The second shoot would be filming me actually sewing a bag.
The shop was great and everything there was £2, some items were less! Before I left the shop I purchased some amazing pieces including these rusty orange trousers, which happen to be Banana Republic brand. I paid about £2 for them and I am sure they sold in the store for over £70. easy..They will be grand material for a messenger bag!
After the photo shoot at the second-hand shop we all stopped for some coffee nearby. Later in the evening we all met up again for the second shoot. Andrew actually gave me a pair of his old trousers that were torn for me to reuse for making bags! Very cool! When the photo shoot was over Emmy made us all dinner and we sat around and relaxed...

A walk about
With a bit of free time, I decided to take a day out and just walk around and take in some sites. I walked around my old neighborhood, near Marylebone High Street. The weather was amazing and the sun felt so good on my face.
I made my way back and through Piccadilly Circus...
On the way back down Marylebone High Street I stopped for some coffee and a snack. I sketched out a few ideas and notes in my book before heading back home.
I had to walk through one of my favorite parks, Paddington Park. I love this little park and would often sit there and just watch people pass by.
I ended up at Leicester Square and relaxed on a park bench and watch the hustle and bustle of tourists shopping for bits.

Trip to Harrods
I have never been to the famous Harrods store, so I had to see what I was missing.
A lesson in football
I mentioned in an earlier blog about living very close to the Wembly Statium.
This is a photo of the stadium from my campus
I was actually heading home from a day out in London. I went down to the baker Street station to catch a train. The next thing I know there is a mob of people heading to the train as well. I watched in amazement as people rushing to the game pushed passed me to get onto the train.
I waited and waited for another train. Each one the same scenario occurred. I had to laugh at one point when over six men tried to push their way on to the train, knowing they were all sticking out of the train and were not going to get on...what a riot!! This little bitty bit of a woman working for the train service had to come over and reprimand the grown men for being such arses..hehe
And it doean't stop with the large crowds and long waits, they sing..yes! They get on the trains and then there is this singing ritual as they all head towards the stadium.
After about the fourth train the crowd slimmed down a bit and i was able to get onto the fifth.
Note to self: watch the sports schedule from here on out and travel according!

Meeting up with Amanda!!!
Amanda was my roommate when I was here in 2006. We were going to school at AIU. She is a fashion design student and great at it! I was only living there for one term, but she has been here all of this time. She is from the U.S. also, but moved here to work on her entire degree plan.
She is a great friend and I was happy to meet up with her again! I love this girl!!
